Monthly Archives: August 2012

Two sketches, one warning, and a million thank yous

Hello, everyone who is reading this! And there are a lot more of you now that I got featured on Freshly Pressed and in their Best Posts of July, which I’m honestly still in shock about. I can’t thank you all enough for stumbling on this corner of the internet and subscribing to listen to my incoherent blatherings.

If you are new here, welcome. I am going to be trying to write more, though I’m not sure about what. Clearly fashion is a popular subject with all of you, though to be honest, I’m about the least fashionable person ever, and it’s so rare that I’m given a gold mine of things to make sarcastic comments about like the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Celebrities just don’t wear crazy shit to awards shows like they used to. (Get on that, celebrities, why do you exist if not for me to alternate between mocking you and desperately wanting to be/do you?)

The problem about you stumbling onto my blog right now is that it is August. My Augusts are usually jam-packed with the only two vacations I take all year. And this August has, in particular, been extra-nuts between picking up what is hopefully my first illustration gig (!!!!), dealing with big changes in my personal life, and trying to juggle all of that with finding time to write something that is coherent English.

I’m honored and amazed any time I get a subscription or comment on my blog, and I can’t even begin to describe how floored I am that I’ve literally received hundreds of those in the past few weeks. All I ask is that you be patient with me while I try to settle into some sort of routine this autumn. In the meantime, I hope you are appeased with these doodles I did over vacation. Ooh, ah, Julia is learning how to color things.
